MEANA is planning to run 5 miles on Shamrock Shuffle in Downtown Chicago. This is to raise some fund for our Homeland's Puthupally Project. Our Goal is to raise at least $5000. The options are you can contribute $25, $50, or $100 for this good cause or you can be a Grand sponsor. The two top fund raisers and Grand sponsors will be honored at the 2008 annual Banquet by Hon. Project Homeland
What is Project-Homeland: ‘Project – Homeland’ is MEANA’s latest initiative to assist with the developmental needs of the state of Kerala. This project is launched in collaboration with the Chicago Chapter of Engineers without Borders, an International Organization of Engineers that provides assistance to developing communities around the world.
Project Plan: MEANA is currently inviting project proposals from organizations in Kerala. MEANA will provide engineering design services to develop suitable solutions for the problems identified by the organizations in Kerala. We will also provide partial financial assistance to qualified projects.
What type of projects will be considered: Any engineering project that can positively impact the lives of the people of Kerala will be considered.
What about project proposals from other states in India: Due to the limitation of resources, we are currently unable to undertake projects outside Kerala. However, we will persuade the Central Government of India to develop a master plan to build the infrastructure for drinking water supply, wastewater processing and solid waste processing.
What types of projects do you recommend: MEANA will not recommend any particular Project. We request environmentally conscious organizations to identify problems and to develop project proposals.

Project Ideas: A list of potential projects is listed below for information only. Project proposals need not be based on these ideas:
- Destroy fecal coliform bacteria in water using state-of-the-art microwave technology or ultraviolet light technology.
- Drinking water processing and supply systems.
- Highly efficient methods to oxygenate ponds, small streams, and even sewage treatment lagoons.
- Anaerobic digestion of organic waste to produce biogas and bio-fertilizer.
- Power generation using solar power, fuel cell technologies and other sustainable technologies.
- Public awareness campaigns to change behavior.
- Laboratory facilities to test the quality of water.
